Hans Liebherr established the company that bears his name in 1949. Since then it has grown into a group of more than 130 companies on all continents, employing approximately 42,000 people at the latest count. In the business year 2015 Liebherr generated the highest sales revenue in the history of the company with a total exceeding € 9.2 billion.
Today, Liebherr is not only among the world’s largest manufacturers of construction machinery, but is an acknowledged supplier of technically advanced, user-oriented products and services in many other fields of activity as well. The Group’s holding company Liebherr-International AG is based in Bulle, Switzerland. The family owned Liebherr Group has a decentralized organizational structure and comprises eleven product divisions. One of them is the maritime division with its headquarter in Rostock, Germany.
Liebherr’s maritime portfolio includes Mobile Harbour Cranes, Reachstackers, Ship Cranes, Offshore Cranes, Fixed and Travelling Cargo Cranes, STS Container Bridges, Container Stacking Cranes, RTGs and Straddle Carriers.
In the field of oil and gas production, heavy lift and subsea, Liebherr offers a variety of offshore cranes to meet the requirements of the market. Liebherr offshore cranes are able to handle loads of up to 5,000 t and can operate in water depths of up to 3,600 m. The product range includes ram and rope luffing models, conventional and kingpost machines, and can be configured to suit the most hazardous production areas, whether on fixed or floating installations.
The direct link of our production side in Rostock to the Baltic Sea provides the best logistic condition - above all for worldwide sales of large equipment. Additionally, the location contributes to the Group strengthening its international market position in maritime cranes.
Board Offshore Crane Series (BOS)
A compact and function-orientated design as well as Liebherr's in-house developed Litronic control system make the board offshore crane series (BOS) from Liebherr one the most successful products in the offshore crane segment. The BOS is a conventional slew bearing crane with a cable luffing mechanism and can be powered electro-hydraulically or diesel-hydraulically.
Heavy Lift Crane Series (HLC)
The Liebherr heavy lift crane series (HLC) is designed especially for the installation of wind farms and for the oil and gas as well as the decommissioning sector.
Ram Luffing Crane Series (RL)
A weight-optimised and compact design with a load bearing capacity up to 100 tonnes make the ram luffing crane (RL) from Liebherr an ideal piece of equipment for small and unmanned platforms or floating storage vessels. The ram luffing crane RL can be powered electro-hydraulically or diesel-hyrdaulically and is available for explosive areas in accordance with the requisite classification.
